What Happens From Your First Call to Final Sign-Off

Here are the five steps between picking up the phone and the inspector signing off, so nothing catches you off guard.

  1. 1

    We talk by phone

Describe the problem in your own words, whether it is a water spot indoors, shingles in the yard or gutters overflowing in a storm. We ask a few follow-up questions and pick a time to visit.

  2. 2

    We look over your roof

We go over shingles, flashing, vents and gutters, and check the attic when it is accessible. You see photos of what turned up along with a plain explanation.

  3. 3

    Estimate, then permit

Your itemized estimate lists code work on its own lines. Once you approve it, we file with your local building office and book a start date.

  4. 4

    The day the crew arrives

Landscaping gets covered, the driveway gets protected and the work zone stays clear. Torn-off material goes right into the dumpster, and a magnet sweep picks up stray nails.

  5. 5

    Final inspection and walk-around

When an inspection is required, we are there to meet the inspector. Then we walk around the finished roof with you and answer whatever you want to know.

Why Neighbors Call Us About Their Roofs

Most people never think about roofing code until an inspector flags something. We would rather you hear about it from us first, in words that make sense.

Three Oklahoma licenses behind the work
We carry an Oklahoma residential roofing license, an Oklahoma commercial roofing license and an Oklahoma general contractor license. Ask about them on the phone and we will tell you which one covers your job.
We handle the city paperwork
When your project needs a permit, we apply for it and schedule the inspection. You do not have to stand in line or guess at the forms.
Code items explained before we start
Drip edge, underlayment, nailing patterns, attic ventilation and how many old layers can stay. We walk you through which of these apply to your roof and why, so nothing on the estimate looks like a mystery charge.
Photos of what we find
We take pictures on your roof and show them to you. If decking is soft or flashing has pulled loose, you see it yourself before deciding anything.
A straight answer on fixing versus a new roof
Plenty of roofs only need one section put right, and when that is the case, that is what we recommend. When the damage runs too deep to patch, we show you the photos and our reasons, and the call stays yours.

A Roofing Company That Explains the Rules

Our company runs on one idea: roofing goes better when the homeowner understands what is being done and why. Code requirements exist because they keep water out and keep shingles on in high wind. When we explain them in plain language, you can tell a needed upgrade from an upsell.

Oklahoma weather is hard on roofs, with spring hail, strong summer storms and the occasional ice storm in winter. A roof built to code holds up better through all of it. That is the work we do on your home, start to finish, and we are happy to talk it through whenever you call.

What Moves the Price of a Roof

We price your job from what we see on your roof, not from a generic chart. A handful of factors account for most of the difference between one estimate and another. Once you know them, the line items make a lot more sense.

Call to get your quote by phone, and we will set a time to see the roof and then hand you a written, itemized estimate. If tear-off reveals something new, we pause and talk it through with you before any added work.

Roof size and steepness
More square footage means more shingles, underlayment and labor hours. Steeper slopes call for added safety gear and slower, more careful work.
How many old layers there are
Code caps the number of shingle layers a roof can hold. When a roof already has two, both get stripped, which means more tear-off labor and more debris to haul away.
The wood under the shingles
Decking often cannot be fully checked until the old roof is off. Boards that are soft or rotted are replaced so new nails hold firmly, and we show you photos and get your okay first.
Your material choice
Different shingle grades and metal each come with their own price and expected life. We put the options next to each other so you can compare.
Bringing the roof up to code
Many older roofs were built without drip edge, proper underlayment or adequate attic ventilation. Adding them is part of what gets a new roof through inspection.
Permit fees and scheduling
Town permit fees and the inspector's calendar factor into the job. After spring hail, demand for crews and materials can also shift start dates.

Answers to Common Roofing Questions

Will my roof job need a permit?
Full replacements nearly always require one, and some bigger repairs do as well. Requirements depend on which town your home sits in. We look up the rules for your address, handle the filing when it is needed and book the inspection.
Should I repair my roof or replace it?
It comes down to the age of the shingles, whether the damage is confined to one area or spread over several slopes, and how sound the decking is. A single problem spot on a roof that is otherwise in good shape is usually worth repairing. We show you photos and explain our reasoning, and the choice stays with you.
How much is my roof going to cost?
We will not give a number without seeing the roof first, since size, pitch, existing layers, decking and code upgrades all affect it. After we look, you receive a written estimate with every item spelled out. Anything unexpected found mid-job gets discussed with you before we do more.
My roof took hail. Can you help with the insurance side?
We can inspect, photograph the damage and explain what we found so you have solid information to give your insurer. Coverage is decided by your adjuster, not by us. We are happy to answer process questions and can meet the adjuster at your home if that would help.
What does roofing code actually require?
For a typical shingle roof, code addresses drip edge along the eaves, the underlayment under the shingles, nail count and placement on each shingle, the number of old layers allowed and how much attic ventilation is needed. Each town adopts its own version, so specifics vary. We point out which of these show up on your estimate and why.
How long will a roof replacement take?
Once work starts, many homes are done in one or two days, depending on size, pitch and weather. Permitting before and the final inspection after add some time. We give you a start date and call if rain moves it.
Is there a warranty on your work?
Yes. Our roofing comes with a lifetime workmanship warranty. Ask us on the phone and we will explain what it covers for your job.
Do you handle commercial roofs as well?
We do. Besides residential work, we take on commercial roof replacement and commercial roof repair. The approach is the same: permits filed, code explained and a written estimate before anything begins.
